Online/Phone Call and Client Relations Volunteer
(part time from home, 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off, more time if you prefer!)
Our online/phone volunteers are the face of our organization and play a critical role in our success, ensuring that all low/no income dog owners in our community are able to afford spay/neuter services for their pets through our voucher program. We retrieve most applications online daily and confirm qualifications and details about the pet and owner, negotiate a comfortable co-pay depending on their financial situation and answer all questions they have about the process. Some clients do not have computer access so they call in on our SPOT phone service and we return calls and we fill out a brief form to gather the same data. They are then referred to the WAG spay/neuter clinic to make their appointment (either on line or by phone as they did with SPOT). Basic information is then input into a simple shared spreadsheet that both SPOT and WAG can access. A typical day on duty will require around 2 hours but can vary depending on the number of requests for help (usually 4–10 per day).
Skills and qualities needed include a warm, patient phone manner, basic computer skills, ability to work with a simple spreadsheet, excellent daily follow through and, of course, compassion for animals and strong support for the spay/neuter project. Please forward your resume or letter of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org OR leave a message on the SPOT line at 541-607-4900 and we will contact you right away!
Social Media Outreach Coordinator
(work from home approximately 3 hours/week)
SPOT needs a volunteer to generate and maintain high visibility for our spay/neuter programs, educational topics and fundraising activities through Facebook, helping creating website content and other social media promotion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creativity and enthusiasm about SPOT’s mission are key attributes we seek. Contact us at email@example.com with a resume or letter of interest and skills/experience to apply.
Fundraising/Event and Promotion Volunteers
SPOT produces several fundraisers annually, including garage sales, Papas Pizza days, and our upcoming Wild, Wild West Casino Night in early 2018 (but work on it has already begun!). These fun events require lots of assistance – from soliciting sponsors to getting great prizes for silent auctions and raffles, creating promotional materials, invitations and posters, growing our contact lists for invitations to planning and executing all aspects of the event! If you are interested in helping with these events, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a resume or letter of interest and skills/experience to apply.
High on our wish list is an experienced newsletter or journalistically savvy volunteer to help us create a great quarterly on-line and print newsletter to keep our supporters and the community aware of the important work we are doing, upcoming fundraising and outreach projects and other valuable information about the spay/neuter world!
